EVA evaluation

The aim of the PIDcon is to enable the producers to test not only the solar cells, but the encapsulation materials as well. The EVA foil has a crucial influence on the PID susceptibility and needs to be investigated.

The PIDcon enables the investigation of the influence of the EVA foil on the PID susceptibility by using a sample stack, which simulates a module. The user simply has to put in a solar cell, the EVA foil that should be investigated and on top of that the glass. Of course solar cells from the same batch as well as the same glass have to be used for comparison.

In the example shown in figure 1 a clear difference in the PID susceptibility is evident for the two EVA foils. EVA 1 is much better suited for modules than EVA 2.
