We are looking for a Project Manager, Customer Projects* to strengthen our team.

Can you keep several customer projects on track at the same time? Do you stay with an issue until a date is agreed and met? At Freiberg Instruments, you take customer-specific measurement systems from the initial requirement through to final acceptance – for semiconductor customers around the world, at the interface between the customer and our specialist departments.

Your responsibilities

Take full ownership of customer-specific projects – from order clarification through development and manufacturing to final acceptance
Look after a defined group of customers and run several projects in parallel, with durations ranging from a few weeks to two years
Clarify the technical specification together with the customer, sales and engineering, and put it on a reliable footing
Work closely with engineering, mechanical design, software, manufacturing, purchasing and service – departments with their own workload and their own priorities. Where a project calls for it, we put together a team that works on it exclusively for a defined period.
Align capacity, priorities and interim milestones with these departments and secure the commitments your project needs – through agreement and sound arguments rather than authority
Plan schedules, costs and resources, track progress and take corrective action before things get tight
Keep the project status transparent for everyone involved and mediate between customer requirements and technical feasibility
Act as the central point of contact for your customers throughout the project, including change and claim management
Coordinate suppliers and bought-in components and keep critical delivery dates in view
Support commissioning, acceptance and handover to our service team – occasionally at the customer site
Help us develop our project management standards further

Your profile

What matters to us is your track record in project management and the way you work – rather than your formal education:

Several years of experience running technical customer projects on your own responsibility, ideally in instrumentation, plant engineering or special-purpose machinery
Strong assertiveness and consistent follow-through: you make sure commitments are kept, internally as well as on the customer side
The ability to decide on the basis of incomplete information and to stand behind the decisions you make
Strength in cross-departmental collaboration: you bring together departments with competing priorities and secure firm commitments through arguments and reliability rather than authority
Composure when objectives conflict: you recognize early when customer requirements and internal capacity are diverging, and bring the right people together in good time
A sure touch in customer communication: you know when to accommodate a request and when a well-reasoned no is the better answer
Enough technical understanding to engage with engineering and manufacturing as an equal and to assess technical statements reliably
A structured, transparent way of working, with project documentation others can follow
Fluent German and English, written and spoken, including in demanding conversations
A technical degree or technical training is a good foundation, but not a formal requirement for us
Willingness to travel occasionally – typically one to two weeks per year, but worldwide
