In contrast to conventional methods, which often rely on time-consuming post-process testing such as self-discharge analysis, relevant cell information is continuously collected under controlled conditions from the very beginning.

By combining high-resolution sensing with advanced pulse and impedance measurements, the system provides a significantly deeper insight into cell behavior during formation. This opens up the possibility to identify early indicators for cell quality, performance, and degradation.

While the correlation between these in-process measurements and long-term cell characteristics is still an active field of development, FormationIQ provides the technological basis to establish exactly these relationships. As a result, traditional testing approaches can be reduced, accelerated, or even replaced, enabling faster and more efficient evaluation of battery cells.
