Characterization of Ga2O3

Characterization of Ga2O3 Aim Ga 2 O 3 is an ultra-wide band gap semiconductor with a great application potential. The contactless characterization of defect related transitions with high sensitivity is still challenging. Solution Contactless surface photovoltage (SPV) spectroscopy in the dc (Kelvin probe, direct measurement of the contact potential difference, DCPD) and ac (modulated regime) modes provides information about transitions energies and direction of charge separation in a wide spectral range from near infrared (< 0.5 eV) up to the deep ultraviolet (> 6 eV) at high sensitivity. Furthermore, the same perforated electrode can be applied for measurements in dc and ac modes with a charge amplifier (figure 1). Application example Figure 2 shows an example for the measurement of a (negative) DCPD spectrum and the spectrum of the modulated SPV amplitude (in a logarithmic scale) on the same place of a b-Ga 2 O 3 crystal. Transitions at the band gap of b-Ga 2 O 3 at 4.8 eV and defect transitions at 1.6, 2.3, 3.2, 4.0, 4.4 and 4.6 eV are well distinguished whereas the sensitivities for measurements in the dc and ac modes can be rather different for different transitions. Burkhard Winkler

Burkhard Winkler Idea generator and Senior Sales Engineer for semiconductors and automation I came up with the idea for Ingot XRD Wire Saw, which immediately convinced our customers. Burkhard Winkler Senior Sales Engineer – SEMI / Automation Burkhard has been developing concepts for new machines and systems at Freiberg Instruments for 5 years, based on customer problems. This also includes costing and preparing quotations. He is responsible for the technical support of major projects, customer communication, and creates product specifications and catalogs. If necessary, he also takes on service activities and quality control. Burkhard is versatile and we are happy to have him in #TeamFI. Burkhard, tell us about your first touchpoint with FI. I was a supplier to Freiberg Instruments for mechanics, design and components. I quickly realized that FI was the perfect place for me to drive challenging projects forward and work with international customers on an equal footing. What skills should a new colleague in your department have? Clearly: good customer communication, openness and curiosity for innovation are essential. You shouldn't ignore problems, but actively tackle them. In addition, specialist training or experience in this area is of course helpful. What do you associate with our guiding principle, “Driven by Innovation”? Innovation is at the heart of our work. I love developing creative solutions and breaking new ground to meet our customers' needs. What else do you want to achieve with FI in the future? From a customer perspective, reliability is crucial. I want to improve our high standards even further, take on even more responsibility and never shy away from a challenge. What are you particularly proud of? I came up with the idea for the Ingot XRD Wire Saw, which immediately convinced our customers. This machine takes the accuracy of wafer sawing to a new level that is unique in the world and is now being produced in small series. It is already being used in production at a leading silicon manufacturer - a special moment in my career. How do you balance your job? I make music, love nature, water and winter sports. I also enjoy spending time with my family. Automatic X-Y mapping stage

Skip breadcrumb navigation Breadcrumb Freiberg Instruments Products X-ray Diffraction Omega/Theta XRD Automatic X-Y mapping stage Automatic X-Y mapping stage for wafers and ingots Interested? Get in touch! Contact now The mapping stage allows to explore the whole sample surface using a controlled grid pattern. An Omega/Theta XRD can easily accommodate the additional xy-positioning stage on top of the turntable. The sample surface can be scanned according to a user-defined grid. The minimum grid spacing is about 1 mm, due to the size of the X-ray spot on the sample. The mapping stage can be combined with Omega Scan to get a crystal orientation mapping or with the rocking curve measurement to get a mapping of distortions on the surface.
